East London’s Ara-U joins forces with UK hardware hash key Ben Pest for ‘Kaos Sympatik’ EP, a four-track trowelling of various niche gear possibilities, be these the EMS VCS3, Roland VP330 or a one-off Orgon prototype dubbed the Silver Box. The result is a set of cogjammed, dark analogue acid and machine-fried club gear sounding out like mad scientists’ cackles, wiling away and abreast gnarled electro. Pest’s recent output moves from solo cuts on Cultivated Electronics and Posh End to pairings with Kursa and Radioactive Man, and has of late leaned into high-volt funk and rougher-edged drums, but here the connection with Ara-U (whose own catalogue now numbers sixteen NS/A releases) moves to twitchier, more sensitive sequencing.
