Follow the lineage of Belgian techno back to its roots and at some point you will come across Steve Redhead, who has been it life since the early 1990s. He’s played across the world and dropped heat on plenty of vital labels and now lands on Arts with some rhythmic pressure. ‘Unbiased Lies’ jostles and hustles and fizzes and spits. It’s a monstrous sound for the main room in full flow. ‘Coronal Mass’ has synths that flash about more than rest in place and ‘Kinetic Hammer’ shows some brilliant drum programming skills – it’s a syncopated sound that swaggers at pace. ‘So Many Questions’ shuts down with a hurried energy, pent-up tension and interwoven drum and synth patterns that are impossible to unpick.
