Krypton – Key 54

Antonio De Angelis makes his return to Freddy K’s Berlin techno institution following earlier outings like Knocking and Kromantic. Krypton keeps things characteristically stripped-back and functional, but never anaemic. His sound is built on reduced structures and driving sequences, and ‘Kryptonite’ shows it with funky loops stacked on top of one another for a thrilling techno rush. ‘Ground’ is more liquid and evasive as it skits about in an abandoned warehouse. ‘Partizan’ overflows with fizzing textures and static charges as bulky kicks jostle from below and ‘Co_yo_ ‘ hammers home the point with more of the same, though this time with an air of celebration.
