France-born, Germany-based Alexis Vogel is a vinyl lover whose sound spans heavy house to trippier techno. For this one on the fledgling IT label, he is firmly in the latter camp. ‘No Harsh Feelings’ is the sort of intense techno sound that throws it back to Jeff Mills’s early work with intergalactic turbulence and wonky rhythms. ‘Sonic Groove’ is tighter, grittier and more focused on the hefty drums. ‘Collateral’ keeps the intense levels high with impish synths darting about them as the cantering drums bring unrelenting techno funk.
