French producer Luxus Varta returns to Shipwrec with his first EP since 2017’s ‘Aquamarine Puzzle’. Across five tracks, he tests the limits of electro by fusing taut percussion, warbling bass and crystalline chords into a precise yet never uptight framework. ‘The Resetter’ opens with icy textures and shimmering warmth, while ‘Building Peaks’ layers terse beats with ghost-like rinses. On ‘Lizardous,’ fragile melodies soften glacial funk and ‘Silver Girl’ twists autumnal harmonies into angular forms. Closing with delicate electronica, the EP balances mechanical rigour with subtle human nuance. Varta’s refined craft is second to none.
