Ode Al Sole EP – Griffe 23

With Italian Berliners Ivan Iacobucci and Stella Fiore – billed on the promo circuit as a «power couple» and delivering accordingly – we’re clasped by the wrist and fast-tracked to the deep house spirit realm. From unsettling, baby-voiced samples to well-paced grooves, ‘Red Sea Dream’ opens the EP on a slowly twinkling unfolding through analogue depth, sectioned off in theme by an overarching narration about god and his favourite angels. ‘Kids In The Desert’ carries that narratively-topped formula forward but goes harder with it, adding wacky buzzsaws and huge new wave drums.
