Per Hammar is a mainstay of the Swedish techno underground, and he makes a Kalahari debut worth hearing in his usual uncompromising, high-energy style. ‘Ohm Alone’ opens with anthemic dub techno buoyancy with a retro bassline before the EP dives into full-frontal tessellations on ‘Tempo’, a deep, wriggling techno rhythm that’s lithe and elastic. ‘Orbit’ and ‘Bump’ find Hammar mix braindance flashes, militant grooves and liberal sampling with earworm hooks and subtle, hauntological flourishes.
