Trevor Linde returns to Harmony for a second EP that has been long-anticipated by those of us who heard the first. It seems he has spent the time working on refinement rather than reinvention, with four tracks that all go for heady tension and rigid grooves. ‘Orthodox Druid’ and ‘Features of Guessing’ open the record with taut techno drum lines and more free, loose synth wisps. They’re full-bodied weapons rich in detail. Meanwhile, on the flip, ‘Squishy Collab’ and ‘Gaze Conjunction’ push further into physically commanding territory without losing the meticulous sound design that defines Linde’s work. The former is a bold, buoyant and on your toes trip and the latter is similarly muscular but with a more alien sound palette.
