Berlin-based techno institution Shed makes his long-awaited Dekmantel debut with a collection that finds the veteran producer exploring the emotional residue left behind once the strobes stop flashing. Across eight cuts, René Pawlowitz balances rugged soundsystem pressure with a distinctly wistful edge. ‘Loot 25’ opens in submerged fashion before ‘Everybody’ introduces chopped-up breaks and restless momentum. Elsewhere, ‘Rave Predator’ strips things back to skeletal, steppy grooves, then ‘Password (Techno Mix)’ pairs driving rhythms with sweeping pads that linger long after the track ends. The tougher breakbeat rush of ‘Double Scoop’ and the yearning pull of ‘Taking You Home’ provide further highlights before the title track eases proceedings into a hazy, trip-hop-tinged finale. A typically assured set from one of techno’s most distinctive voices.
