French artist Pagenty steps out with a notable debut here on Cosa Vostra. These sounds suggest he has a keen interest in cinematic sound design as that is melded to gritty, hard-hitting electro with the lush melancholy of synthwave, meaning these are both emotional but physically intense. Fragments of vocal samples weave through the production on ‘Time Keeping Machine’ adding texture and contrast, while ‘The Phazon Effect’ is a collaboration with Disset that injects machine-made grit. ‘Walking Down The Metro Aisle’ spins out with streamlines and snappy metallic surfaces then ‘Rift Apart’ is underpinned by a motorik kick but with some 80s synths and cosmic curiosity in the air. Pagenty marks himself as one to watch here.
