Stay Up Forever Special serves the second volume of ‘Rockers Uptown’, a (total) eight-track cartouche of hidden reggae and acid techno destinations. Summoning in one booth The Dub Drillerz, Jah Scoop & Jago, and Benji303 – all largely from the UK and contracted since at least 1999 by the trio Liberator DJs – theirs is a rarely-heard kind of fusion, where militant, saturnalian kick-drum saturation – at equipotent gabber and acid trance speeds – meets the flotilla patois cries and DJ shouts of the forborne Caribbean genre. Titles like ‘Judgment Day’, ‘Slay The Wicked’, ‘The Beast Flavah’ and ‘King Creator’ all reaffirm the abominable power behind this devil merger in sound.
