Released over three 12s, Beatrice M’s debut album Sinking reaches its third and final plate and it’s one of the most exciting as they link up and connect with a number of kindred spirits in various ways. Opener ‘In Touch’ sets the plate alight from the off with dual language bars from Jinnal and Kaba representing Beatrice’s French and English roots while elsewhere we come across Jay Carder’s collaborative touch on the warm and woozy ‘Here’. Deeper we sink to find an immense, groove-heavy remix of ‘Poison’ by Beatrice themselves. Originally released on the Tectonic Sound compilation in 25, the original’s sharp edges and tribalistic tone are softened slightly for a more house-moulded version. Finally ‘Years’ brings this beguiling and highly accomplished album to an end with beautiful shimmering dubby poignancy. What an album. Grab all three plates if you’re able to.
