Somov 17
El artista Ignez regresa a su sello Somov produciendo cuatro temarracos originales para la referencia número 17.
Dutch sound-creator Ignez has some genuinely good ideas to share. The 17th in his self-run SMV series, part of his Somov Records sweats, takes techno for a long and bracing hike outdoors; his sound seems to associate the plus-140BPM pull of the club with the natural but harsh rhythms of soil, water, and ether; the essential, indifferent, abiotic components of life. Freudian terminology is borrowed too: their aim is to transform dancefloors into a «collective oceanic feeling.» Here be ‘Us In The Sand’, a sodden, sedimented set of caving beats and twinkling melodies upset by repeated, ripping disturbances; and ‘Upclose’ and ‘Amplesso’, which are starker, wrigglier jerks-forward, closer to the Detroit techno of old but still brutally organic in feeling.
