Los cracks Pugilist & Tamen colaboran para lanzar la segunda referencia del sello australiano Ruff Kutz.
Earlier in the year, a familiar name on the global bass scene – sometime Trule, Nous’klaer Audio, Whities and ZamZam Sounds contributor Puglilist – decided to launch his own imprint, Ruff Kutz. For the label’s second missive, he’s joined forces with fellow Melbourne resident Tamen for a collaborative four-tracker. They blur the boundaries between deep, spacey drum & bass and the raw-edits-and-even-more-raw-sampled breaks of jungle on ‘Source’, before opting for a hard-to-pigeonhole post-dubstep, 140-adjacent sound on the impeccably programmed and undeniably atmospheric ‘Fuchsia’. ‘Limerick’ sees the duo wrap gorgeous melodic motifs and jazzy samples around a classic-sounding D&B riddim, while ‘Miel’ is a more sub-heavy slab of junglist breakbeat science of the sort that could have come out of the stdio of E Z Rollers in the late 1990s.
