Three producers are on one shared trajectory here as Spirits arrives and immediately sounds like Triple Phase’s most physically assertive statement to date. Hapro, Neuronal Grip and Tom Nox each retain distinct character here while the energy running across the record as a whole creates a thrilling coherence. ‘Spectral Frequencies’ lands with an earth-shattering thud as the spring-loaded kicks keep on hitting in broken patterns and with true threat. ‘The Sherpa’ has a rhythm that unfurls more fully but with tense, unresolved synths and seductive vocals vying for attention. ‘Fraktion’ races along with a more swaggering, skating dub and garage feel and ‘Nature Is Alive’ cuts back to allow the searching synth work to set the futuristic tone.
