You may well know Swedish producer Mattias El Mansouri from Aniara Recordings, but for this last outing of the year, he heads to the equally class Nous’klaer Audio. He is in heaven house mode here with ‘Struktur’ flexing its rhythmic muscle and puffing its chest out on bold, billowy bass, with dry hits and urgent vocal fragments injecting the emotion. ‘Reticulum’ is a floatation tank that gently rises and falls on serene synth wisps as the drums and toms tap out a pattern down low. ‘Disintegration’ shuts down with yet another side to the artist’s sound that strips away all but the deepest basslines, most sustained chords and feathery breaks that are buried deep in the mix. It’s a perfect blend of energy and emotion.
