Deulka has had a mad busy year with several great solo EPs and compilation contributions on the likes of No Signal and SK Eleven, and this time he lands on Supercinema out of Italy. True to form, here he explores a deft, deep style of techno where the details make the difference – as well as the sound design. ‘Libra’ is on-your-toes but deep, Detroit-style techno with sophisticated pads, ‘Secret’ then gets tighter and pent-up in terms of energy, with some prying loops leading the way over buzzy-circuit board sounds. ‘Detroit State Of Mind’ is a mix of suspenseful synths and hammering drums and hits and ‘Plastic Emotion’ closes with a more roomy and sparse atmosphere of deep space exploration.
