Nastia has curated this new collection from a place of genuine need, namely, what she believed to be the scarcity of sophisticated opening-set material. As such, TECH 040 functions as a reflection of her tastes and a professional toolkit. Each track navigates that liminal space before the dancefloor fully awakens: hypnotic, atmospheric, unhurried but always with movement, taking you somewhere, or at least promising to, because often the thrill is in that sense of what might be. The selection spans techno legends and contemporary innovators, from the deep throb of DJ Dextro to Nastia’s own standout percussive weapon ‘Elephant Dreamin’. The tempos are high, but the atmospheres are what make the cuts such great scene-setters.
