Mathys Lenne is a four-deck techno specialist with a cerebral style. This latest Mord double-pack is a relentless dive into industrial-tinged grooves where his icy percussion meets cavernous atmospheres. Mechanical rhythms are at the core of it all and craft a darkly hypnotic sound from jagged kicks to metallic echoes. ‘A Blue Room’ is all watery droplets in a damp cavern, ‘The Poet & The Muse’ shuffles more with an eerie and unsettling synth in the distance and ‘Marcel’s Walk’ is heavy, off balance, like a monster marching towards you. It’s a stark, immersive work.
