From Fabriclive to Signature to Houghton, the name Calibre should ring out loud and clear. While his is serious drum & bass high-grade, the Belfast artist’s newest LP is rather understated promo-wise, carrying a kind of unshowy, contraditory swagger: speaking droves if only because the name and music speaks for itself. This set continues to see and hear Calibre look liquidly inward: 12 tracks written, produced and sung by Martin himself, the latter especially notable since his voice is largely folded deep into the mix here rather than pushed up front. Pieces like ‘Living Is Truth’, ‘Outside Man’, ‘Possession Dub’ and ‘Dim Light’ move as patiently as a cat, with their brushed breakbeats and smirry melodic lines.
