Total Motion EP – Planet Rhythm Special Series 22

Athenian median Axel Karakasis was a reputed holder-downer of various DJ residencies across Greece in the late 90s, before his first release on Pornographic Recordings in 2000 opened a production career spanning Intec, MB Elektronics, Primate and Modularz among others. His work has been described as «groovy techno», and his relationship with Planet Rhythm is ongoing, the likes of ‘Fairground’ and ‘Nightbreak’ standing out among the contributions so far; now ‘Total Motion’, his fourth EP, appears, making his output for the label a routine one per year. These are hard techno pounders of a grim, unrepentant strain, the term «groovy» being something of a red herring if you associate that term with lackadaisical funk music.
