‘Turning Point’ marks French artist PO’s third release on Griffe, and it certainly has the air of a homecoming. A close ally of the label since its early days, he’s carved out a distinctive sound that’s sharp, emotive and unmistakably his. The new four-tracker builds on the foundation laid by his earlier EPs, but leans further into the personal, each cut wired with its own backstory. ‘Les Aurores’ commences with hard, diffuse boreal melodies and a clomping sense of weight below the mids, while ‘Side Vision’ winds the stopwatch back to a good 4 decades ago, giving rapid lased electropop galore, continuing with hi-hat rattly, cute-psychophonic finesse of ‘Anne K’.
