Berlin producer Baka and Malta’s Acidulant collide on We Are The Acid Robots Vol. 1, a six-track electro-acid exploration through the Zodiak Commune. Baka opens with ‘Binary Code Translation’, ‘Happiness Calculator’ and ‘Malware’, delivering precise machine grooves and fluid basslines worthy of the «anthrobot» age, where we’re still not sure of the difference between organism and mechanism. Acidulant’s turn on ‘Rocket Machine’, ‘Emotions Of The 303’ and ‘Outrageous Love’ digs into electro’s origins with harder-edged, sparser spasms of the rhythm; released digitally ahead of the 12″ vinyl, mastered by Stefan ZMK with design by Chris Nexus Six, the EP’s got a true, sleek modernity about it.
