Inimitable Warp favourite Clark brings his restless, textural intelligence to the score for Zak Hilditch’s Australian arthouse zombie film, and the results are appropriately cinematic but without ever losing his distinctive fingerprints. Written partly the old-fashioned way – in the room, watching the film, writing music as it played – the score carries an immediacy that studio-only processes rarely achieve. Rakhi Singh’s vocals and violin add organic warmth to tracks like ‘Bus Journey’ and ‘Mapping the Territory’ while Cicely Balston’s mastering at Abbey Road gives everything weight and clarity. Dark, atmospheric and occasionally beautiful, this sits comfortably alongside Clark’s most compelling work.
