We’re Going Deep 12005

UK electro heavyweight James Shinra blesses the 303 lovers with a repress of his EP ‘WGD 12005’, featuring hits you know and love like ‘Wasp’ and »Jaunt’. The four-tracker was initially released on Bristolian label We’re Going Deep back in 2023, and was the fifth solo project on the imprint, succeeding the likes of Luke Vibert and D5. The A-A-A-Acid aerobics (see ‘Wasp’) are out in full force across this EP. ‘Jaunt’ jump starts the project with a cracking bassline amidst echoed and chewy synth lines. ‘Venture’ follows, using 303 goodness to woo the listener as the track crescendos into wonderful solo moments of focus alongside minimal percussion. On the second side, ‘Wasp’ wiggles it way up into becoming a acidic, purebred peak-time hit, whilst ‘Flexion’ takes a more moody and broody stance with jazz inspired leads and graceful pads.
