Brazilian-born, Berlin-based KaioBarssalos returns to Smile Sessions and strips everything back to what matters most. Six tracks with no distractions and just kick, groove and the deep magic of repetition. ‘Whale’ sets the tone with dark underground weight, while ‘Intensive’ and ‘Breathe’ push deeper into hypnotic, ritualistic territory that is all muscular rhythms and glitchy textural touches. The low-ends throughout are rooted, old-school in philosophy and precise in execution. ‘Frasco’ is bulky, panel-beaten loops and managed vocal fragments, while ‘Choke’ has a conversational synth detail that playfully darts about the mix.
