Malta’s Keith Farrugia has long been known to electro heads as the man behind Sound Synthesis, founder of Wave Function Records and co-runner of Orbital Mechanics. He also continues to prove his versatility in the studio with the fourth instalment on his own Submersive Underground label. His sound has often been rooted in acidic, vocoder-laced electro across more than a decade of releases, but here he pivots to a driving 4/4 techno framework, which has quickly found favour within the wider community. These are four perfectly executed, atmospheric bangers: ‘Somnautica’ and the title track open with zippy synth distortion and speed linear drums while ‘Unwanted Experience’ and ‘Aligned Hypothesis’ dig deeper into the playful rhythms and glowing digital synths that make for another strong showing from a producer whose consistency is impressive.
