Innershades make seriously smoky, dusty house sounds that are muscular in rhythm and authentic in vibe. This project on the equally serious Clone West Coast Series finds them paying homage to Belgian clubs of the late 80s and early 90s and labels like R&S and Music Man that represented those scenes. There is extra snap and metallic texture to opener ‘Circuit Tension’, then ‘Submerged Horizon’ rides a more zoned out and cruising groove for those 3am moments of calm before the storm. There is acid-fuelled jack to ‘New Beginning’ then ‘Transcendental Echoes’ gets more celestial and hypnotic, though the drums remain raw.
