Manchester’s underground electronic lineage runs heavy through ‘Northern Step’, as Worsleyy delivers a sharp new take on classic jungle. Released via the increasingly strong Up Ya Archives, the lead track pairs crisp breakwork with a rolling bassline, while airy vocals soften its edges without losing low-end impact. With input from Chimpo, ‘Northern Step’ pairs spoken word mic work, adding UK swagger as the unrelenting drums bang on. There is a clear sense of heritage in ‘Pump It Up’, which brings big, ravey synth stabs and hardcore vocals and ‘In The Air! shuts down with bright stabs and brutal drum work. It’s pure physical release for loud play only.
