HLZ aka Emilio Dimitri moved to London over ten years ago after a fated Goldie connection made in Rome; he would hold up one half of Need For Mirrors before going solo, building a release history across Symmetry, Shogun and and Digital Soundboy. His holy-grail Metalheadz moment arrived in 2014, and he’s enjoyed many a banger-unleashing from there. Now back in Italy, All My Life took shape after a road-test at Goldie’s XOYO residency before getting the greenlight: 16 tracks make for dangerously infectious digital soundbath, checking a spaced-up rap feature from d&b jazzmaster Cleveland Watkiss on ‘The Genie’, and Bipolar on ‘It’s Going Wrong’. There’s an unrushed, dubby quality running the thing, tending dreamy when it can and tearout when it can’t. ‘Love Is Strength’ is an unusual mood of dubious euphoria, and has classic potential.
