Amsterdam’s Ottagone has built up a fine body of work with the first two instalments in this series. His take on techno is about a balancing act between holding back and pulling you in. It’s loopy but never rigid and always operates on the deeper end of the spectrum, both physically and emotionally. This collection is another faultless one full of essential, classy tools that are painstakingly designed yet organic. ‘Ottagone 045’ finds real beauty in the most subtle of synth smudges, while elsewhere there is darker pressure on ‘048’ and unease in the rattling dub chords of ‘042.’
