Dutch producer ANNE returns to Glasgow’s Soma Records with ‘Sleepwalkers’, her fourth outing on the label and a steady deepening of a sound shaped over recent releases for the imprint. ‘Sleepwalkers’, ‘Up In Clouds’ and ‘Lithium’ hold a tight, heads-down techno line, tensile drums and pressurised atmospheres, built for late-hour floors rather than quick payoff. ANNE, real name Anne Huijnen, has edged into prominence through Soma’s roster, aligning with its long-running focus on functional, no-frills club music; Slam step in on ‘Lithium’, the Soma founders reworking it twice – one full-bodied, one stripped back.
