It is not news to anyone with even half an ear to the underground that Portugal has become a hotbed for invention across the worlds of house, techno and club music. The Side B label has been partly to thank for that and now welcomes Manchester’s A Morgan who has been bubbling up for a while now. ‘Sucker Love is his opening gambit and the sort of frantic techno cut that injects anxiousness and urgency into the airwaves. Yant remixes it with a swinging low end and twitchy motifs up top then ‘Cloudfall’ borrows uneasy and distant cosmic synth refrains from early Plastikman and layers them over linear drums. ‘Nothing Is Lost’ closes with glitchy textures and elongated minimal grooves.
