As well as releases on his own OPUS label – which hosts this five track EP – Berlin-based producer and all round techno don Sept has graced a list of excellent labels, including CLERGY, Bpitch, Flash Recordings and KYSH, as well as spreading awareness of his DJ skills via Boiler Room, Mixmag, HOR, Vault Sessions, Slam Radio and HATE. His style is big, muscular four-to-the-floor workouts but as this selection proves ably, there’s nothing formulaic about his music. ‘Radiant’, for example, is laced with dramatic synth swirls, ‘Chain Reaction’ sounds like a runaway train bearing down on you at 110mph, and throughout the four main tunes (the last being a beatless ambient one), there’s the kind of funkiness in the rock hard grooves that only the finer techno bods around can achieve.
