Hardware front and centre, no safety net. Phara’s EMX Series Pt.III functions as a recorded snapshot of the same workflow he’s been refining on tour, building the entire EP on a Korg Electribe. Patterns feel hole-punched in, bitten by end-to-end hardware circuitry from ‘Strike3’ to ‘Pine Barrens’, the latter of which doesn’t only let modulation do the talking, there being a turn towards vocoder edits play towards the end.
