The second volume of Heritage continues an in-the-know exploration of early electronic dance music with precision and vision. The A-side revisits New Beat’s dark, hypnotic textures with shimmering arpeggios on ‘Mind State’ and the industrial, urgent pulses of ‘System Breakdown’ exposing the genre’s defining traits. The B-side shifts into early 90s territory where techno and house freely intermix. ‘Fuse Memory’ drives forward with 909 patterns and subtle 303 flourishes, while ‘Rhythm Composer’ ventures into Detroit-inspired, sci-fi atmospheres with formant-heavy leads. Innershades does a fine job of blending historical homage with contemporary club readiness.
