It’s not been long since Greek artist Sera J last poked his head above the parapet. Already this year he has impressed on outings for 13130 out of France and the long-established German label Mutual Rytm, and now he keeps up the good form with a blistering new 12″ for TRSN. If you like melody in your techno, best skip this one because it is a largely atmospheric exploration of rhythm where shadowy moods are cooked up from grainy pads and post-industrial FX. The quality is in the way the drums are quick and urgent and compel you to move with them. ‘Diaphragma’ is a paddy, dubby and minimal sound while ‘Human In The Loop’ is more anxious and on edge.
