Three decades into shaping Slovenian techno from illegal early-90s raves to Drumcode and Beatport chart dominance, UMEK still finds reasons to create new outlets for new obsessions. The Polyvinyl alter-ego and its home on 1605 GROOVESECTOR exist specifically to house the groovier end of his output, and Isometrik shows he ain’t mucking about. ‘Unlockable Formations With Hertz’ name-checks a legendary collaborator while ‘Da Flute’ suggests a producer still willing to surprise. It’s hardgroove built with rhythmic precision and timed for the club. This is a veteran operating without complacency and a ton of ideas.
