Kognitiv Discodans – Kontra 15

Sweden’s Kontra-Musik continues its 20-year celebrations with a third instalment from label favourite and fellow Swede, PST. His previous two EPs have sold out in quick time and this will likely do the same – opener ‘Kognitiv Discodan’ is a delightfully breezy blend of hazy, mindless (in a good way) pads and dusty drum loops that could play for hours and never grate. ‘Flojten’ is a sunnier sound with swinging, dubby kicks and uplifting pads, but ‘Potwot’ then picks up the pace and hammers home a deep techno rhythm with lashings of wispy synth and fragment vocals bringing the intensity. ‘Bag It’ is another quick-stepping techno frenzy and ‘Rollin Credits’ releases the pressure with a thoughtful sound that has a naive charm.
