Elias Landberg broke his duoship with Gustaf Wallnerstrom in 2016, after which he’s kept steady under the name Skudge, releasing as both imprint and artist. His new 12″ ‘Meadow’ prompts relaxed looks over serene pastures, as techno’s usual mettle and might is traded in for lighter-footed, light-trailing, phosphorous phonics. ‘Meadow’ and ‘Break2’ deploy both echoic, will-o-the-wisping ripples over happily kicking beats, like ball lightning over lake water. The KW refix is like the computerised circuitry underneath; what sounds like conductive liquid seems to diffract the original track’s tuned liquid pops and clicks in full, omnidirectional space.
