Destination Portugal: Nia Archives welcomes Mix’elle to her label and the results are suitably riotous. Continuing the lo-fi, punky vibe of previous releases, ‘8’ kicks off in an understated, fuzzy, gritty way. Neither hardcore, nor dnb, there’s a cool understated vibe to the groove that could (like the title suggests) go on infinitely. ‘Rage Days’ takes a much more direct and grizzly approach with a powerful fevela fury edge to her vocals while the beats embody all things ravey and ragey. Elsewhere ‘Maresia’ puts the full focus on the break and gets really twisted and hypnotic with the edit while ‘Divagacao’ (which translates to rambling) closes the EP on a similar, slightly psychedelic, highly 90s electronic jaunt that you might have expected from Orbital in their early years but with more of a breakbeat edge. Super cool and timeless.
