Manchester producer Setaoc Mass delivers ‘Static Rush’, a frictive five-track fusebreaker of dystopian techno for the Fuse imprint. Not so long after his debut album Horror Vacui, Mass has not slowed down, having put out more than five EPs for various harsh-climactic sonic outposts since then. This one games the pressure after a digital-only RA mix, lifting the veil on exclusives heard in 2024: ‘The Sky Above’, hears tense synth seqs and brushing hat design, while ‘Shaded’ escalates with whipped white noise and perky double-claps. The closing triad hear similar, until the breakaway anomaly ‘Overload’ goes spryly kickless, a nice floatation device to leaven an otherwise brutish EP.
