Basel producer Ben Kaczor follows a string of deep techno and ambient-leaning singles with the five-track EP ‘To Baby Bones’, recorded during rehearsals for his first live set at the Above Below Festival in 2024. Written for a close friend and confidant, the music drifts through draughty, windswept sequences of progressive minimal, as if we listeners were stood in a long-abandoned wind tunnel or passage shaft for futuristic aircraft. The title cut unspools in slow waves, ‘Bridge’ moves with a suspended calm, and ‘This Blue Light’ glows with fading warmth. ‘Punchbag’ jolts the mood with agile percussion, while digital-only closer ‘Home Away From Home’ stretches out in meditative arcs.
